Tuckpointing

When mortar joints crack, wash out, or turn to sand, water gets into the wall and the damage spreads. We grind out the failed mortar and repoint the joints by hand, which stops the water and puts the strength back into the brick.

The part folks worry about is the repair standing out. We match the mortar color and tool the joint to match what is already there, so on a century-old limestone or brick wall the repointed section blends right in. We have repointed 115-year-old limestone and made it read as one wall.
